1st Janz ICF 2011 Follow-up
On Thursday, October 10th, 2011 the Janz Industrial Computing Forum took place in Jena/Germany. The event was a great success, and well-attended with nearly 30 participants. The aim of this forum was to deliver insight to the participants about current developments in Industrial Computing.
Speakers for this event came from several well-known companies.
Paul Diepstraten, Product Sales and Marketing Director of Advantech Europe B.V., talked in his lecture about standard PC platforms in the industry and specifications for human-machine interfaces, embedded automation systems, and technology trends.
Michael Rennerich, Janz Tec AG management, presented in his lecture practical examples of customized solutions. The possibility and the process of customization was explained – modifying standard products to exactly match custom requirements.
Oliver Fels of EtherCAT Technology Group offered insight into EtherCAT technology, one of the most important real-time Ethernet protocols, with the functional principle of processing data in a single pass.
Ralph Holz also attended - an experienced trainer of 3S-Smart Software Solutions, the manufacturer of CoDeSys. After a short introduction, Mr. Holz showed a live Fieldbus configuration with EtherCAT.
In the last lecture of the day, Mrs. Schmidl from Elbacom addressed Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Windows Embedded Standard 2009 topics. Elbacom is a Microsoft Distributor for the embedded channel. Embedded licensing and technical features were highlighted.
Due to the positive response to the event, Janz Tec AG plans to repeat it next year, and also to hold it in additional German cities.
